Runkel a German sword maker who moved to London in 1780 making swords with blades he imported from Germany. Typical Pattern 1788 steel hilt with the original worn leather grip wrap and braided triple copper retaining wire. Very good overall with nice blade and marking. Scabbard with minor denting near drag. Rare form of short saber used by mounted artillery troops. Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812 era. $1100.
